Laniya Smith

Laniya Smith is a junior at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro currently studying to get her BFA in Dance and Choreography. She has been dancing since the age of 8 and has loved it ever since! She spent her years before college studying at Artistic Dance Academy in Goldsboro, NC, where she was trained in ballet, tap, hip-hop, contemporary, and jazz.

She has also had the opportunity to dance in two films, perform at PRSM showcase, and has even recently got accepted into the CLI Conservatory program in Massachusetts.

Laniya is so excited to teach at SESD and inspire kids of all ages!

Fun fact: Laniya’s favorite style by far is contemporary! She loves the different choices and the exploration of the body when doing contemporary movement.
