Jazz and Tap
Jazz and tap are very similar-they are both very popular on Broadway! That’s why we combine Jazz and Tap for our level 2 dancers.
Jazz dance is a form of dance that showcases a dancer’s individual style and originality. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns. This style is available for us today thanks to innovative movers like Bob Fosse, Jerome Robbins, and Jack Cole!
Speaking of famous dancers…Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Ginger Rogers made tap equally as famous! During its high time, the nineteen-twenties through the fifties, tap was everywhere from movies to the theatre. Tap dance is a lively form of dance that uses taps on the sole and heel of the dancers shoe as a form of percussion while incorporating some jumps and turns from jazz technique. The possibilities in tap are endless!
