SUMMARY:Ballet 2\, 3\, 4 Mid Term Evaluations
DESCRIPTION:Ballet students in levels 2 and above are evaluated twice a year. Mid term evaluations are in December and returned in January\, and final evaluations are held in May and returned the Monday following our Spring Showcase.\nEvaluations enable instructor\, parent\, and student to track progress over the course of the year\, and from one year to the next. Dancers and parents are encouraged to review evaluations every month or so to remember previous corrections and consider what has improved and what needs a little extra attention.\nCategories include technique\, various steps/skills\, musicality\, professionalism\, class attire\, absences\, etc.\nDid your dancer have an “off” day? No need for extra stress; evaluations are only 2 weeks out of the entire season\, but we consider dancer’s performance and behavior in class throughout the entire year.\nEvaluations take place in your dancers regular class time.\nDancers should arrive in correct attire and a few minutes early to remove warm ups and put on ballet slippers. We will begin promptly at class start time.\nWe may record class to review later in order to give detailed comments and accurate scores. These videos are for instructor use only and will not be copied\, distributed\, or posted.\nPlease remember that evaluations are confidential—dancers and parents should not discuss any scores with other students or parents. Evaluations are intended to create growth\, not division–in or out of class.\nWhile reviewing your evaluation\, please keep the following points in mind:\n\nThe score is NOT as important as the corrections/comments. It is completely normal and expected for a dancer to receive “1”-“3” on her mid-term evaluations. Final evaluations are usually scored “2”-“5”. Numbered scores are included to simplify the promotion process\, which leads to the next point…\n It is perfectly normal\, and even EXPECTED\, for a dancer to spend anywhere from 2-5 years in any given level. We offer 5 levels of ballet from beginning at age 5.5; it is impractical to expect any dancer to progress one level each year. Class promotion should not be a dancer’s only goal. It is important to focus on the present; carefully listening to and applying corrections from your instructor.\nOur ultimate goal is to build each dancer’s strong technical foundation. A correct understanding of basic technique will take her very far\, while moving too quickly will hinder her for a very long time.\n\n\nWhile we only require conferences at the end of the season\, we are always happy to schedule a time to meet and discuss your dancer’s progress and address any concerns you may have. Your dancer is our top priority!

Hopefully\, the weather is good and if it’s not\, PG will choose to use their rain date.\n\n\n\n-Rehearsal at SESD: \n\nPerformance Team dancers rehearse 9:30-10:45\n“Run Run Rudolph” dancers rehearse 10:15-10:45\nFloat riders and float volunteers do not need to attend\nDancers do not need to be in “costume\,” but should have hair secured out of their face\n\n\n  \n  \n\n-What to wear: \n\nRun\, Run\, Rudolph Dancers\, Float riders\, Volunteers\, Walkers: Nutcracker themed sweatshirt\, jeans (any color)\, tennis shoes (any color)\, hair in a high ponytail (volunteers do not need a ponytail unless desired). White gloves\, bows\, earmuffs\, etc. are optional.\nTeam: Silver dress\, caramel tights\, tan jazz shoes. Hair in a low bun\, left side part. Performance make up and red lipstick. Dancers may wear a jacket/sweatshirt/leggings/etc. as cover ups before the parade begins.\n\n\n  \n  \n–Call time/Drop Off Instructions for all float riders\, pre-approved float volunteers\, and all dancers/walkers:\n\n\nDrop off Location: Hansen Brickyard (near Ryegate/PG Road\, same location as last year)\nAll participants should check in with Miss Carey at our float between 1:45-1:55. You will need to give her the name of which parent will pick up your dancer.\nThe roads will begin closing after 2:00pm\, and the parade begins at 3:00pm.\nThere are not bathrooms at Hansen Brickyard\, and we cannot take dancers to the bathroom after they have been dropped off\, please plan accordingly.\nOur line up spots are 85-A\, 85-B\, and 85-C.\n\n\n  \n\n\n  \n-Pick Up Instructions: \n\n***Please check your dancer out with Mrs. Katherine before you leave\, do not take your dancer without confirming with Mrs. Katherine. Dancers will not be released to anyone other than their parent/legal guardian whose name was given at check-in.\nPick Up Area: PG Elementary School\nWe will be somewhere in the PG Elem parking lot\, sometimes we are required to travel towards the back\, but we usually end up stopping somewhere in the middle. It’s always a tough call to make\, but we appreciate everyone’s understanding! \nIf your dancer had only signed up for the Liberty parade and would like to attend PG tomorrow instead\, please text or email Mrs. Katherine at seschoolofdance@gmail.com by 8pm tonight. \nThank you! \n  \nLIBERTY PARADE UPDATE (11/30):  \nUnfortunately\, due to the forecast tomorrow\, I have made the difficult decision not to take our float to the Liberty parade. I can’t risk the possibility of rain damaging the float decorations and our sound system/generator. If your dancer was planning to ride the float in the Liberty parade\, they are welcome to walk in front of our group! I would hate for them to miss out this year.\n\nLiberty Float volunteers: if your dancer opts to walk with our group\, please plan to walk with that group–we need assistance making sure they hold a steady pace and stay in their lines. If your dancer decides not to walk with us\, that’s completely fine\, just let me know!\n\nAt this time\, we are still planning on taking “Run\, Run\, Rudolph” and Team dancers to the Liberty parade. However\, please check for updates tomorrow–if anything changes\, I will update the Facebook event no later than one hour prior to the drop off time. All drop off/pick up instructions remain the same except you will now check in with Miss Alex or Mrs. Katherine at the drop off location.\n\n-*-*-*-*-*-*-\n  \n  \n-Inclement Weather: The Liberty parade goes on rain or shine. It’s about a 2 block walk\, max .5 miles.\nPlease plan to arrive and be ready to go 1:30-1:40. We cannot wait longer than 1:40 due to directions we have received from the parade organizers. (The address says Newberry Street\, but the actual parking lot is on the corner of Newberry and Fayetteville St.)\nAs we turn onto Fayetteville street to end the parade\, we will pass the Liberty Elementary School (on right). We will keep going straight–past Liberty Tire (on left) and parking lot “B” will be on our right. \nThe parking lot will be marked on the day of and there will be a traffic director.\nParents are encouraged to park in Parking lot “B” after you drop off your dancer.
